To select these, visit about:config, select the setting, and assign “vim” or “emacs”, or “sublime” to that setting. In the Editor Preferences section of the developer tools settings, you can choose to use Vim, Emacs, or Sublime Text key bindings instead.

Getting Set Up To Work On The Firefox Codebase.I'm not suggesting that you should make it just like Firefox, as that serves a different purpose but, FF does have some nice shortcuts for tab manipulation (I've probably missed a few, this is just what came to mind). So far, I'm impressed with the v5 beta, but this is the one area where I trip up, and have to think about what I'm doing. It's also easy to type "Alt-f" followed by some letter (same principle as Ctrl-w). Having "close" in the tab's own menu might be sufficient, but if I'm already noodling around on the global menu bar, then it's right there. Again, this is just a habit that I'm used to. That would be nice to have, next to the other connection-related options, like "Disconnect". I can type "Ctrl-w" without looking down.Īlso, I'm accustomed to seeing a "Close tab" option under "File", on the main menu bar.

For "Ctrl-F4", I have to reach up for the function keys, which makes it a bit harder. The key itself doesn't matter so much as where it sits. I'm used to typing "Ctrl-w" to close a tab. This isn't so much about a shortcoming in SCRT, as it is about my tab-use habits from two-plus years of using Mozilla Firefox. Hello, I have a minor question about menu and keyboard shortcuts for closing tabs.
